Our Board of Directors

Christine Bechtel

Christine Bechtel is a long-time health care consumer advocate. She brings national credibility and health policy expertise to an array of issue areas including patient and family-centered care, health IT, patient-centered medical home (PCMH), patient engagement, and quality improvement.  She co-founded and coordinated the first year of the groundbreaking GetMyHealthData campaign, an initiative that documented what happened when consumers across the country used their HIPAA rights to request their health data in electronic formats. For 5 years, she was Vice President of a national nonprofit consumer organization called the National Partnership for Women & Families, and she currently co-chairs the Center for Patients, Families and Consumers at the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC). Christine’s previous positions included leadership and advisory roles at the eHealth Initiative (eHI), the American Health Quality Association, AARP and Louisiana's Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, eQHealth Solutions. Bechtel began her career as a legislative associate for United States Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-MD). She holds a bachelor's degree in politics and public policy from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland and a master's degree in political management from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Colleen Cannon Boyd

Colleen Cannon Boyd is the founder and principal of Internal Navigation, an executive coaching and development firm. Prior to founding Internal Navigation, Colleen spent the first half of her career in management roles in the hi-tech sector in Silicon Valley. Her roles in engineering, marketing, sales, and executive staff, have given Colleen a broad understanding of all aspects of business and enable her to understand and build rapport with executives from any discipline.

In addition to the hands-on experience of management at Tandem Computers, ROLM Corporation, and Pacific Bell, Colleen has years of specialized training in consulting, coaching, and executive development. Colleen is a Certified Integral Coach, and she holds a BSEE degree from Rice University.

James E. Wendle

James E. Wendle, is the former President of EQM Technologies & Energy, Inc., an environmental engineering and consulting firm. He has over 25 years of experience in the process design, engineering, and construction sectors, including as the President of a leading process and facilities design & engineering firm, Process Plus. He is currently the President of JW Corporate Consultants, and JW Property Inspection. Mr. Wendle has an A.A.S. degree in Architectural Engineering and a B.S. Degree in Construction Management from Southern Illinois University.

Becky Wedemeyer

Becky Wedemeyer is an executive team consultant whose specialties include: Executive-level team dynamics, strategic alignment, retreat facilitation, executive coaching, communications strategies, workplace culture, CEO succession, leadership development, employee engagement, and Board communications, selection, and positioning.

Thomas A. Tavenner

Thomas “Tommy” Tavenner, CFP®, AIF® is the Founder and Executive Officer for Tavenner Financial, Inc. His clients include corporate retirement plans as well as individuals who rely on him for Financial Planning, Wealth Management and individual insurance needs. Tommy is currently writing his first financial book, and is active in his home state of Maryland in developing financial literacy programs through the Maryland school system. He is co-founder with his wife Michelle of the non-profit In Honor of Her, Inc. (www.inhonorofher.org), an organization that fosters education for the prevention of Domestic Violence. He currently chairs the fundraising committee for this public charity.

Janet Kreizman

Janet Kreizman has 26 years of experience in non-profit and for-profit organizations. She is currently the CEO of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry and was previously the Deputy Exec. Dir of The Endocrine Society. Prior to The Endocrine Society, Kreizman served as Director, Government & Public Affairs at the American Medical Directors Association and Executive Director, Alliance for Consumer Education and Executive Director, Household & Institutional Products Info. Council at the Consumer Specialty Products Association. Kreizman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology & English from Clark University and is a member of the American Association of Medical Society Executives, the American Society of Association Executives, and the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives.
